Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Oral Surgery Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional chairside assistance during oral surgery procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety while supporting the clinical team. Your expertise in dental assisting, infection control, and patient management will contribute to delivering top-quality care in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary dental instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment for oral surgery procedures. Assist the oral surgeon during surgeries by handing instruments, managing suction, and maintaining a clear operative field. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA and infection prevention policies. Manage patient records accurately using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting procedures, vital signs, and medical histories thoroughly. Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols, including dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques, to maintain clinical confidentiality and safety standards. Educate patients on post-operative care instructions, medication usage, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal recovery. Maintain dental equipment functionality, including dental x-ray machines and other clinical tools, while supporting general dentistry and specialized oral surgery treatments. Skills Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate documentation. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to oral surgery. Experience with dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and infection prevention management. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques, including four-handed dentistry and handling dental instruments efficiently. Familiarity with dental imaging technologies like X-ray machines and 3D scanners for precise diagnostics. Ability to manage patient care effectively while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with the clinical team and provide compassionate patient management in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry settings.
