Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our vibrant dental team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering exceptional patient care by performing advanced dental procedures, assisting with clinical operations, and ensuring smooth workflow within the practice. Your expertise in dental assisting, combined with your knowledge of dental technology and infection control protocols, will help us provide top-tier general and pediatric dentistry services. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring precision and efficiency. Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient comfort and treatment flow. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including digital imaging using advanced equipment such as 3D scanners and medical imaging tools. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following strict infection prevention management protocols and aseptic techniques. Monitor vital signs and assist in medical documentation for patients requiring medical history updates or special care. Support the dental team by managing patient management software, scheduling appointments, and providing excellent patient care from check-in to check-out. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while adhering to infection control standards and dental sterilization procedures. Assist with dental instrument processing, dental equipment setup, and maintaining a clean, organized clinical environment. Collaborate seamlessly with the team in general dentistry procedures as well as specialized areas like prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatrics to ensure comprehensive patient care. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with proficiency in expanded functions roles within a busy dental clinic setting. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is highly preferred. Hands-on experience with dental X-ray techniques, including digital imaging and 3D scanning technologies. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical documentation and patient privacy is essential. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection prevention management, and sterilization procedures. Experience supporting pediatric dentistry or working with diverse patient populations is advantageous. Certification in Dental Assisting or EFDA credentials are required; additional certifications in medical coding or healthcare infection control are a plus.
