The Dental Assistant will support dental providers in a correctional setting by preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, sterilizing instruments, and maintaining accurate dental records. This role ensures compliance with infection control standards, facility policies, and state regulations while promoting efficient clinic operations. The Dental Assistant will also provide patient education on oral hygiene and contribute to a safe and organized dental care environment. How YOU can Make an
Impact:
Provide chairside assistance to dentists during dental procedures, including preventive and prosthetic treatments. Develop and process dental radiographs as per provider orders, ensuring adherence to radiation safety protocols. Assist in monitoring and maintaining dental equipment, including radiographic developing equipment and sterilizers, according to manufacturer guidelines. Prepare, sterilize, and organize dental instruments and equipment, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dental area to support a safe, hygienic environment. Order and maintain inventory of dental clinic supplies, ensuring availability and proper storage. Manage dental laboratory slips and maintain accurate records in compliance with clinic protocols. Schedule patient appointments, maintain dental charts, and record dental findings. Process dental clinic patients, providing necessary support and information during visits. Perform other related duties as assigned. What we
Ask of YOU:
A current, valid certificate or 1-3 years of experience in Dental Assisting A High School diploma or GED is required. 1-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a correctional healthcare or similar environment. Experience in roles that involve direct patient care or administrative support in a regulated environment is preferred. Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to the correctional setting is an advantage. Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, adhere to protocols, and deliver high-quality service in a fast-paced, structured environment. Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved).
