Duties Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including restorations, extractions, oral surgery, implants and prosthodontics. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Take high-quality dental x-rays while ensuring patient safety through proper use of dental x-ray equipment and adherence to HIPAA privacy regulations. Manage patient flow efficiently by greeting patients, updating medical documentation, recording vital signs, and verifying insurance information using patient management software such as Open Dental. Support patient care by explaining procedures, providing post-treatment instructions, and ensuring comfort throughout visits. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical and dental records with accuracy and professionalism. Ensure all dental sterilization procedures are followed meticulously to uphold infection control standards and prevent cross-contamination. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting; experience with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, dental instruments, equipment operation, and clinical procedures including dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Open Dental for efficient documentation and patient management. Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely while maintaining compliance with radiation safety standards. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate seamlessly with the dental team. Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dentistry and oral surgery enhances your ability to support complex cases. Demonstrated understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices along with aseptic technique for maintaining a sterile environment.
