As an Orthodontic Assistant, you will be responsible for: Creating a comfortable, friendly environment for our patients. Assisting the doctor during treatment visits and recording findings. Taking and uploading photos, x-rays, and digital scans. Prepare, sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment. Understand and follow OSHA and HIPAA requirements. Evaluate and coach patients on oral hygiene, proper appliance care and cooperation. Have an understanding of appointment types, processes and doctor time for each. Learn and and utilize our management software and communication platforms. Properly fit and deliver orthodontic arch wires and appliances. Monitor assigned patients and incoming appliances. Effectively deliver patient instructions for oral hygiene, appliance instruction/home care, elastics use and placement. Motivate and encourage patients to follow doctor directions. Effectively communicate with parents / guardians on treatment progress. Submit digital scans and prescriptions for lab work or appliances needed. 3D printing of digital scans and fabrication of retainers. Participate in practice marketing and events. Maintain good relationships with referring offices, patients, parents, and friends. Communicate with patients in an encouraging, uplifting manner that instills confidence and creates an excellent patient experience. Identify effective clinical flow throughout every day. Communicate effectively with team members to create a positive, productive work environment. Have a full, hands-on understanding, of clinical procedures. Understand how to answer phones, utilize scripts and schedule appointments. Maintaining accurate patient records. Maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
