Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Duties Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our dental team in various clinical and administrative tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Duties Assist dentists during examinations and procedures by preparing instruments and materials. Placing fillings. Take dental radiographs (X-rays) while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Maintain accurate patient records, including medical history and treatment plans. Perform basic laboratory tasks such as taking intra-oral scans and fabricating crowns. Manage infection control protocols, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients and staff. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Utilize dental software systems for scheduling appointments and managing patient information. Monitor vital signs as needed during procedures to ensure patient safety. Operate 3D scanners for imaging when required. Skills Placing fillings, making temporary crowns, placing retraction cord, intra-oral scanning, x-ray certification, BLS certification, coronal polishing a plus. Proficient in dental assisting techniques with a strong understanding of aseptic technique and infection control practices. Familiarity with dental coding to assist in billing processes is preferred. Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry to better assist in procedures. Experience with medical imaging technologies is advantageous. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment. Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and team members.
