In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional patient care by performing advanced clinical procedures, assisting with complex dental treatments, and ensuring the smooth operation of our dental practice. Your expertise in dental assisting, combined with your knowledge of dental technology and infection control protocols, will help us provide top-tier dental services in a welcoming environment. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Perform expanded functions such as placing fillings, applying sealants, and taking impressions under dentist supervision. Operate and maintain dental equipment including X-ray machines and sterilization tools while adhering to infection prevention management policies. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of medical documentation. Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing instruments following dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques. Assist with patient management tasks including vital signs measurement, medical history updates, and patient education on oral health care. Support front desk operations as a dental receptionist when needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow through patient management software. Maintain a thorough understanding of dental terminology and anatomy to effectively communicate with patients and team members. Uphold infection control standards in accordance with healthcare infection prevention guidelines to ensure a safe clinical environment for staff and patients. Qualifications Certified Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) credential or equivalent certification required. Proven experience in general dentistry. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and dental x-ray procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix experience with patient management software is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical imaging, and medical documentation standards. Strong understanding of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control practices. Ability to perform dental sterilization procedures efficiently while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about treatment plans and oral health practices. Ability to work collaboratively within a team using four-handed dentistry techniques for optimal patient care delivery.
