Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilization procedures to ensure readiness for various dental procedures including Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, Pediatric dentistry, Oral surgery, Endodontics, and Periodontics. Assist dentists during examinations and procedures by handing instruments, suctioning, taking X-rays, and applying dental materials as needed. Obtain and document patient vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration; accurately record medical and dental histories using electronic health record (EHR) systems like curve Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and answer questions about procedures or treatments. Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and secure handling of medical records and documentation. Manage appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and coordinate with the dental receptionist to optimize clinic flow. Ensure all clinical areas are sanitized according to infection control protocols; operate dental equipment safely and efficiently. Support the administrative team by updating medical coding information and assisting with billing processes when necessary. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental office setting with familiarity in general dentistry procedures. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical documentation standards. Proficiency in using EMR systems Experience assisting with diverse specialties including Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, Pediatric dentistry, Oral surgery, Endodontics, and Periodontics is highly desirable. Ability to accurately perform patient assessments including vital signs measurement. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records privacy and security. Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with team members. Certification in Dental Assisting (such as CDA or RDA) is preferred; additional certifications in radiography or CPR are advantageous. Prior experience working in a busy dental clinic or healthcare environment is preferred; familiarity with Dental office software like Curve.
