Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Office Receptionist/Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. This role is essential in providing exceptional patient service, ensuring smooth office operations, and supporting clinical staff with administrative and clerical tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, comprehensive knowledge of dental administrative procedures, and a commitment to maintaining a welcoming environment for patients. The candidate should be willing to assist in the operatories and sterilization when needed. On the job dental assistant training can be provided to the right candidate. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify insurance information, and assist with patient check-in and check-out processes. Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software, coordinating with clinical staff to optimize daily operations. Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems ensuring compliance with HIPAA confidentiality policies. Collect payments and perform dental billing tasks, including insurance claims processing. Assist with documentation review, coding procedures using CDT codes, and ensuring accurate documentation for billing purposes. Handle phone communication professionally, providing excellent customer service while addressing patient inquiries and appointment requests. Maintain a clean and organized front desk area, managing filing systems and performing administrative support tasks. Support clinical staff by preparing treatment rooms, managing supplies, and ensuring adherence to infection control protocols and dental assisting when needed. Skills Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and health information management practices. Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities. Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with dental terminology and clinic workflows is advantageous. Competence in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with clerical experience. Ability to review medical/dental documentation thoroughly while adhering to healthcare compliance standards. Knowledge of health insurance procedures related to Medicare and private insurers is preferred; understanding of dental office management practices enhances efficiency.
