Dental Assistant Overview

  • The Dental Assistant plays a vital role in supporting dental operations and ensuring patient comfort during treatments.
  • Assist the dentist in clinical procedures, prepare materials, and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Perform diagnostic tasks such as taking x-rays and preparing study casts for analysis.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
  • Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality in all dental care services.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to manage emergencies and ensure readiness for procedures.
  • Operate and troubleshoot dental equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and preventive maintenance.
  • Ad to infection control protocols and maintain compliance with safety regulations.
  • Support inventory management by tracking supplies and placing orders as needed. Dental Assistant Key Responsibilities & Duties
  • Prepare treatment rooms and ensure readiness for patient procedures.
  • Welcome and comfort patients, ensuring a positive experience during their visit.
  • Sterilize and position instruments for efficient access during treatments.
  • Mix and place dental materials accurately for various procedures.
  • Expose and develop radiographic studies, ensuring diagnostic accuracy.
  • Fabricate temporary restorations and clean removable appliances as needed.
  • Assist in managing dental emergencies by maintaining CPR certification and emergency supplies.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene and postoperative care to promote health.
  • Document dental services and maintain patient records with precision. Dental Assistant Job Requirements
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent certification is required.
  • Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting Program is mandatory.
  • Active Dental Assistant License and Dental Radiation Technologist License are essential.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in dental assistance is preferred.
  • Proficiency in sterilization techniques and infection control protocols is required.
  • Ability to operate and maintain dental equipment effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for patient education and team collaboration.
  • Availability to work on-site with rotating Saturday schedules.
  • Commitment to maintaining professional knowledge through workshops and publications.
