GLC Government Services is seeking Dental Assistants to work a government contract at a federal correctional facility in Butner, NC , housing adult male offenders.

Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) Butner, Old Hwy 75, Butner, NC, in the dental services department.
Pay Rate:
$27.27/hour
Hours:
40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays, normally between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch period.
Requirements:
Must have specialty training from a licensed dentist and/or certification from an accredited dental assistant school. Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety. Must be CPR certified through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Minimum of 2 years of experience providing dental assistant services.
Job Duties:
Assists the dental officer with restorative, oral surgery, periodontics, prosthetics, examinations, and emergency dental procedures. Prepares patients, dental treatment rooms, instruments, materials, medications, and equipment. Assists during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, irrigating, and operating the aspirator. Maintains accurate electronic and paper dental treatment records, including dental and periodontal charting. Provides patients with instructions regarding dental care and follow-up appointments. Performs dental screenings and provides dental health education. Performs periodontal procedures, including preparation for surgery and placement/removal of packs and rubber dams. Places temporary fillings and applies prescribed medications and anti-cariogenic agents. Cleans, sharpens, sterilizes, and maintains dental instruments and equipment. Performs daily equipment inspections, reports defects, and makes minor repairs when appropriate. Assists with dental prosthesis and appliance fabrication and repairs under supervision. Takes and processes standard and digital dental radiographs while following radiation safety and infection-control procedures. Obtains diagnostic-quality periapical, occlusal, lateral jaw, TMJ, and panoramic radiographs. Performs quality assurance checks on radiographic equipment and maintains proper radiology procedures. Handles and sterilizes contaminated biological waste according to dental clinic protocols. Takes primary dental impressions and pours casts. Selects appropriate tooth shades for composite restorations and dentures. Follows established professional practices and the dental officer's written and verbal instructions.
