Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use in accordance with infection prevention management protocols. Assist the dentist during various procedures such as X-ray imaging, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other pediatric dental treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques. Take and develop dental X-rays while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies. Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, dental charts, and electronic health records using patient management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Monitor vital signs of young patients before procedures to ensure their safety and comfort throughout treatment sessions. Educate children and their guardians on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by processing dental instruments, sterilizing equipment, and adhering to infection control standards including aseptic technique. Requirements Proven experience as a dental assistant with a focus on pediatric dentistry or general dentistry preferred. Proficiency in dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and dental sterilization procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing medical records and patient data efficiently. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to pediatric patients. Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other clinical tools safely and effectively. Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices aligned with OSHA standards. Excellent communication skills to interact compassionately with children and their families while maintaining professional decorum.
