Job Overview Join our dynamic dental team as a Dental Assistant / Oral Surgery Assistant, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting our oral surgery procedures. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment, utilizing your clinical skills and knowledge of dental and medical procedures. You will assist with chairside procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the highest standards of infection control and clinical confidentiality. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary dental instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment in accordance with infection prevention management policies. Assist the dentist during oral surgery procedures by handing instruments, managing suction, and ensuring patient comfort through four-handed dentistry techniques. Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans using advanced imaging technology, ensuring accuracy while adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols. Manage patient flow efficiently by greeting patients, updating medical records using patient management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, and verifying vital signs as needed. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while documenting medical histories, treatment notes, and procedural details accurately in electronic health records (EHR). Support dental sterilization procedures by processing instruments according to strict sterilization standards and infection control guidelines. Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-operative instructions for oral surgery recovery, and answer questions related to general dentistry treatments. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or Oral Surgery Assistant within a dental clinic setting; experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment operation, and medical imaging techniques including X-ray and 3D scanner use. Strong understanding of infection prevention management, aseptic technique, dental sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection control standards. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies at all times. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages; experience as a dental receptionist is beneficial. Certification in radiography (dental x-ray) is required; additional certifications in endodontics or prosthodontics are advantageous.
