As a Registered Dental Assistant, you will increase the efficiency of the dentist in the delivery of quality oral health care and are valuable members of the dental care team The Dental Assistant will provide direct and indirect patient care delivery.
Duties include the following:
Assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures. Preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment. Communicating with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing, and ordering supplies). Chart existing restorations or conditions. Receive and prepare patients for treatment. Complete laboratory forms. Perform routine maintenance of dental equipment, including sterilization of dental instruments. Ensure infection control protocols are in place for each patient. Maintain all dental logs. Demonstrates knowledge of ethnics/jurisprudence/patient confidentiality. Expose and develop dental radiographs, evaluate for diagnostic quality, mount and label the dental radiographs per the state regulations and law as well as PCHC directives and protocols. Provide patient preventive education and oral hygiene instruction. Provide pre and post-operative instruction. Pour, trim, and evaluate the quality of diagnostic casts. Assist with basic restorative procedures including prosthodontics, restorative dentistry, basic intraoral surgical procedures, including extractions, periodontics, endodontics and implants. Demonstrate understanding of the OSHA Hazard and an understanding of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Guidelines Prepare procedural trays/armamentaria set-ups.. Maintain field of operation during dental procedures through the use of retraction, suction, irrigation, drying, placing and removing cotton rolls, etc. Apply topical anesthetic to the injection site. Maintain emergency kit. Recognize and respond to basic medical and dental emergencies. Other duties as assigned. Who you are and What you will bring: Active New Jersey Radiological Technology License is required. High school diploma or GED certificate. Registered Dental Assistant. Current CPR (BLS) is required. Valid Radiology license in NJ. Fluent in both English and Spanish is preferred. Knowledge and use of electronic medical records is required. The appropriate candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment and have experience with servicing adults, children and families of various ethnic, cultural, gender and socioeconomic backgrounds. Strong communication and collaboration skills are needed.
