Ctr. of Dayton Dayton, OH Job Details Part-time 1 day ago Benefits Disability insurance Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Life insurance Qualifications Customer communication In-person customer service HIPAA Dental terminology Health information regulatory compliance Working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds Clinical confidentiality policies Full Job Description Summary of Position To assist the dentist and dental hygienist providing optimal dental care for the population served by First Flight Health Centers Principal Duties and Responsibilities Performs duties that are delegated according to the State Board of Dental Examiners under the direct supervision of the dentist. Seats, drapes and prepares patient for treatment. Takes appropriate radiographs and maintains current State Board Radiation Permit. Ensures that appropriate dental instruments are available for each procedure. Ensures that the operatories are stocked with the appropriate dental supplies. Maintains and submits supply requisitions to supervisor or dental director quarterly and as needed. Sterilizes and autoclaves dental instruments as needed and maintains a biological monitor system to ensure proper sterilization. Charts existing dental conditions on the clinic dental chart as well as any changes in patient's medical history. Takes and pours up preliminary dental impressions. Records patient's vital signs on the initial visit and as requested by the dentist. Answers patient questions regarding proposed treatment plan and explains the procedures. Encourages the patient to return for follow-up visit and explain the importance of preventative care. Be a liason to the patient throughout entire visit. Required Skills or Abilities Provides care in a non-judgmental manner consistent with each patient's cultural beliefs and values. Ensuring confidentiality and privacy of information associated with those served by the Center. Maintains confidentiality and full complies with HIPAA policies and procedures related to disclosure of protected health information. Familiar with dental terminology. Acts independently with little supervision. Acts as a team member with other dental staff and the rest of the medical staff in the Center. Excellent communication and customer service skills Required Knowledge, Experience or Licensure/Registration Graduate from high school or equivalent, completion of dental assistant program, Ohio State Dental Radiograph permit or eligibility for permit with minimum of three years experience. Physical Requirements The job requires significant physical effort and involves carrying supplies and dental equipment weighing up to 35 pounds, assisting the dentist and standing 75% of the time.
