Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical assisting, patient care, and dental procedures, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient confidentiality. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to comprehensive dental services, including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery and orthodontics in a professional and supportive environment. The Dental Assistant will be instrumental in ensuring smooth clinic operations, delivering exceptional patient experiences, and supporting clinical staff. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all materials are ready for procedures. Assist dentists during various treatments by handing instruments, managing dental supplies, and providing chairside support. Take and develop dental X-ray images accurately while adhering to radiation safety protocols.

• Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures to promote optimal dental health. Perform dental instrument processing and sterilization procedures following infection prevention management policies. Record vital signs and medical history details to support comprehensive patient assessments. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and records. Assist with specialized procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry as needed. Ensure the proper functioning of dental equipment including 3D scanners and other advanced imaging devices. Uphold aseptic techniques and infection control standards throughout all clinical activities to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Skills Proficiency in using EMR systems for managing patient records efficiently. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across various specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery. Experience with dental x-ray techniques, medical imaging, and dental sterilization procedures. Familiarity with dental equipment operation including 3D scanners and other advanced diagnostic tools.

• Excellent understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices along with aseptic technique implementation. Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques for increased efficiency during procedures. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance when handling medical documentation and patient information. Skilled in patient management software for scheduling appointments, updating records, and facilitating smooth clinic operations. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages while demonstrating professionalism in pediatric dentistry settings when applicable. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies at all times.
