Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with sterile instruments and supplies, ensuring adherence to infection control and aseptic techniques. Assist oral surgeons during procedures by handing instruments, managing suction, and monitoring patient comfort. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including 3D scans, to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor vital signs and medical history of patients before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety. Provide pre- and post-operative instructions to patients, addressing questions about care and recovery. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and maintaining medical documentation. Skills Proficiency with dental software systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures related to oral surgery and general dentistry. Experience with chairside assisting techniques in pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and other specialties. Ability to perform X-ray imaging accurately while maintaining strict infection control standards. Familiarity with medical coding practices related to dental procedures for accurate billing and recordkeeping. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the dental team and educate patients about their treatments. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry considerations when assisting young patients through complex procedures like wisdom teeth removal or implants.
