Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team. Duties Assist dentists with complex procedures including prosthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry using four-handed dentistry techniques. Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, temporary restorations, and other delegated duties within scope of practice. Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while ensuring compliance with radiation safety standards. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in line with HIPAA regulations. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments according to infection prevention management protocols and ensuring all dental equipment is functioning properly. Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and assisting with patient management software to enhance overall patient experience. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while documenting medical history, dental procedures, and treatment plans accurately in medical documentation systems. Support the dental reception team by managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and handling administrative tasks efficiently. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with proficiency in chairside assisting and dental instrument processing. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment, and infection control practices including aseptic technique. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with patient management software is highly desirable. Certification in dental x-ray technology; additional certifications in medical imaging or oral surgery are a plus. Understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control standards along with HIPAA compliance requirements. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially in pediatric dentistry settings. Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist during complex procedures like endodontics or oral surgery confidently.
