Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care while assisting the dentist in various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Experience with EMR systems and familiarity with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable. Duties Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental X-rays, utilizing knowledge of medical imaging and anatomy. Manage patient records, including medical documentation and coding, while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions. Perform vital signs checks as needed and assist with chairside duties during various dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics. Utilize dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling appointments and managing patient information. Maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use. Qualifications Previous experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting is preferred. Proficiency in EMR systems; familiarity with Epic is a plus. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and infection control practices. Experience with 3D scanners is an advantage. Ability to perform chairside assisting effectively while managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and team members. Understanding of pediatric dentistry principles is beneficial for working with younger patients. Certification in CPR or First Aid is preferred but not mandatory.
