Dental Assistant Overview We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our Downtown Dental team! In this role, you will work chairside with our dentist, prepare patients and instruments for procedures, and help ensure a smooth, comfortable experience from check-in to checkout. No prior dental experience required — we're happy to train the right person, including support toward South Dakota dental radiographer registration and, over time, DANB certification and Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) status, with a clear path to increased pay as you earn additional certifications and take on expanded responsibilities. A steady hand, attention to detail, and a genuine care for patients will help us deliver outstanding treatment and maintain a well-run clinical environment. Schedule:
Full-time or Part-time available, 4-day workweek Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for a variety of dental procedures
- Assist the dentist chairside during exams, restorative work, and other procedures
- Take and process dental x-rays and intraoral digital scans (Dentsply Sirona Primescan)
- Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment in compliance with infection control standards
- Prepare patients for treatment, explain procedures, and provide comfort and reassurance throughout
- Take and record patient vitals and health history updates as needed
- Maintain accurate clinical records and chart notes in Dentrix
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, restocking of dental supplies, and light treatment room cleaning
- Maintain accurate dental records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations Experience
- No prior dental experience required — we provide on-the-job training, including support toward radiographer registration and RDA certification for those who want to grow into it
- Proven experience as a dental assistant is a plus, but not required; new graduates of accredited dental assisting programs are also welcome to apply
- Knowledge of dental terminology, chairside procedures, and infection control protocols is appreciated
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Dentrix and digital charting preferred
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced dental office setting
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) abilities are a plus to enhance communication with patients
