Responsibilities Assist orthodontists during patient examinations, adjustments, and procedures with precision and efficiency. Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing and arranging dental instruments, ensuring adherence to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Take dental x-rays, including 3D scans, while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies. Manage patient records using advanced patient management software such as Cloud Nine, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of medical documentation. Provide chairside assistance during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and other orthodontic treatments. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices specific to orthodontic care, including appliance maintenance and dietary guidelines. Support the dental team by handling administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and managing patient flow efficiently. Requirements Proven experience as an orthodontic assistant or dental assistant with a focus on orthodontics; previous work in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry is a plus. Proficiency in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, along with experience using patient management software to streamline clinical workflows. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to orthodontics and oral surgery procedures. Familiarity with dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, dental sterilization procedures, and dental instrument processing protocols. Excellent understanding of infection control standards, healthcare infection prevention practices, and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe clinical environment. Ability to perform vital signs measurement and medical imaging accurately while maintaining patient comfort. Outstanding communication skills to effectively educate patients of all ages—especially pediatrics—and collaborate seamlessly with the dental team.
