Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly using infection control protocols. Assist dentists during various procedures such as cleanings, restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when necessary, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures are followed. Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining HIPAA compliance for patient confidentiality. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and monitoring vital signs during procedures to ensure patient comfort and safety. Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental terminology, and oral hygiene practices to promote ongoing health. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing medical documentation or records. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or other medical documentation software is a plus. Strong understanding of infection control practices including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry and pediatrics. Ability to perform X-ray imaging safely while adhering to radiation safety standards. Skills in chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry for efficiency and patient comfort. Certification in radiography or X-ray technology preferred; CPR certification is advantageous. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team that includes dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals.
