Position Details Position Information Position Title Adjunct Instructor - Dental Assistant FLSA Exempt Contract Length N/A Class Summary College of the Mainland is seeking adjunct instructors who will play a key role in educating and supporting students in the Dental Assistant program. Position Type Adjunct Employment Status Part Time Position Funding Regular Minimum Education/Training/Experience High School Diploma; Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job; 3 years experience working as a Registered Dental Assistant 1 year experience teaching or training other Dental Assistants Current RDA license Principles and practices of teaching Detailed knowledge of material being taught Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction Working knowledge of working in a higher education setting Preferred Education/Training/Experience Associate's Degree or higher CPR Instructor certified through the College of the Mainland CTC 3 years experience teaching or training Minimum Knowledge & Skills Medical teamwork, chairside manner, infection control, clinical skills and techniques, health promotion and maintenance, creating a safe, effective environment, informing others Knowledge of the theory, skills, and job duties of the Dental Assistant; lab set up, clinical rotation, troubleshooting, and operation of related equipment Basic computer literacy sufficient to perform job duties such as using Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of a Learning Management System Knowledge of student engagement techniques, learning styles, retention strategies, and learning-centered philosophy Experience with or willingness to learn latest teaching/learning technologies Record keeping procedures Written and oral communication commensurate with position and level of education, and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with students, coworkers, supervisors, and the general public Preferred Knowledge & Skills N/A Job Duties Prepare and distribute syllabi which inform students about course requirements, grading requirements, testing assignments, attendance policy, and other information for each course assigned. Prepare, administer, and grade assignments, assessments and examinations in a timely manner to inform students about their progress. Encourage use of support services by students. Follow procedures related to the CE office and COM policies, including grade reports and deadlines; attendance record reports; withdrawal deadlines; class changes and time and room scheduling. Maintain the lab space as needed to ensure the appropriate supplies are on hand and accessible.
