As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during various procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the smooth operation of the clinical environment. Responsibilities Assist dentists during examinations and procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper technique and adherence to safety standards. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all dental equipment is functioning correctly according to infection control policies. Provide chairside assistance during various procedures including endodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry. Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures to promote optimal dental health. Monitor vital signs when necessary and assist in medical documentation related to patient health history. Support administrative tasks such as patient check-in/out, scheduling appointments using patient management software, and managing medical documentation efficiently. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures is required. Hands-on experience with dental X-ray techniques, sterilization procedures, and infection prevention management is essential. Proficiency in dental assisting roles involving four-handed dentistry and aseptic techniques is highly desirable. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology enhances the ability to provide comprehensive patient care. Experience using EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing medical records is preferred. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and oral surgery procedures will be considered an asset. Demonstrated understanding of healthcare infection control standards and dental equipment operation ensures safe clinical practice.
