Duties Assist orthodontists during patient procedures, including placement and adjustment of braces, retainers, and other orthodontic appliances Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is in optimal working condition, adhering to dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies Take dental panoramic x-rays and intraoral scans Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) system Cloud 9 Educate patients on oral hygiene practices specific to orthodontic treatment and provide post-treatment instructions for optimal results Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques, supporting the orthodontist efficiently during procedures Help with simple administrative tasks such as calling and confirming patients. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on orthodontics or general dentistry; experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus Proficiency in EMR systems such as Open Dental and Cloud9; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment, and oral surgery procedures Dental x-ray technology and proficiency in taking medical imaging Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention standards Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate with team members including dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals Ability to maintain clinical confidentiality policies while managing sensitive medical records and documentation Computer literacy with proficiency in standard office software applications.
