Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring proper technique and patient comfort. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental concerns. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including documentation review and updates in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures aligned with healthcare standards. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Prepare dental equipment for procedures, ensuring all tools are sterilized and functioning correctly. Support general dentistry services with patient care, documentation review, and medical coding as needed. Skills Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for managing electronic health records. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices. Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and pediatric patient care is highly desirable. Expertise in chairside assisting, including handling dental equipment and performing X-ray procedures safely. Excellent client communication skills to educate patients effectively about their dental health needs. Healthcare infection prevention and control expertise to uphold the highest standards of safety. Ability to perform vital signs assessment, medical imaging, and maintain accurate medical records efficiently. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance management to ensure privacy and confidentiality of patient information. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and management. Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and dental assisting best practices within a general dentistry setting.
