Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term dental health. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EMR) by documenting treatment details, medical terminology, and patient interactions in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage infection prevention protocols by sterilizing dental equipment, practicing aseptic techniques, and ensuring a sterile environment at all times. Review documentation for accuracy, update medical records regularly, and ensure compliance with healthcare infection control standards. Support general dentistry procedures by preparing treatment rooms, handling dental equipment, and assisting with patient care from start to finish. Uphold patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA guidelines while providing compassionate care tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Experience Proficiency with electronic health record systems such as Dentrix is preferred Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy related to oral health. Experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus Familiarity with dental x-ray procedures, medical imaging techniques, and maintaining patient safety during radiographic procedures. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, providing clear instructions on dental care and hygiene practices. Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control standards essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
