Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options to promote lifelong dental health. Assist with chairside procedures by preparing instruments, maintaining sterilization protocols, and supporting dentists during treatments. Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to ensure accurate documentation of patient information and treatment plans. Follow infection prevention management protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control standards compliant with HIPAA regulations. Review medical and dental records for accuracy and completeness; ensure compliance with healthcare privacy laws. Support general dentistry practices with patient care coordination, appointment scheduling, and maintaining a welcoming environment for pediatric dentistry when applicable. Skills Proficiency in using EHR systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation review and management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation, and medical imaging techniques including X-ray procedures. Expertise in pediatric dentistry practices and providing age-appropriate patient education. Ability to perform dental assisting tasks with competence in chairside assisting, aseptic technique, and infection control procedures. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical coding, and healthcare infection prevention standards. Excellent client communication skills to effectively educate patients about their oral health needs. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance management to maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Experience working in dental office or clinic environments with a focus on maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
