Full Job Description Job Purpose :
The Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) helps our patients achieve and maintain good oral health, clean teeth, examine patients for signs of oral disease and other preventive dental needs. The RDH will work closely with dentists and dental assistants to provide appropriate oral health information and educate patients to improve and maintain good oral health.
Hours and days:
Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday (20-24 Hours per week), Part-Time/non-benefited.
Qualifications:
Must possess CA Dental Hygienist licensure current and unrestricted. Associates degree from a Dental Hygienist program and be accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Completion of Board Certification preferred. Provide direct patient care to patients assigned using established dental hygienist procedures. Obtain baseline oral hygiene assessment data based upon accepted principles of oral hygiene and periodontal care. Record oral conditions and treatment provided to our patient in the patient's electronic record. Develop and implement individualized dental care plans for patients Use patient screening procedures to include medical history review and dental charting. Take patient vital signs as required. Perform routine treatment procedures such as cleaning, polishing, x-ray, application of sealants and fluorides and related procedures. Ensure the safe administration of dental anesthetics as appropriate and nitrous oxide if certified. Communicate technical information to non-technical personnel and patients. Assist in preparation of patient care areas as needed. Perform patient education, discharge planning and patient/family teaching under the supervision of a qualified dentist. Document dental treatment and correspondence with patients in the patients' electronic dental record. May perform other required duties as assigned. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening, physical and background screening.
