Responsibilities Provide preventive dental hygiene care, including cleanings, periodontal maintenance, and fluoride treatments Perform oral health assessments, charting, and periodontal measurements Take, process, and review digital dental radiographs in accordance with safety protocols Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, home care routines, and treatment plans Assist the dentist during exams and restorative procedures as needed Maintain accurate, thorough clinical notes and patient records in the practice management system Ensure operatory and instruments are properly sterilized and prepared between patients Collaborate with dentists and team members to deliver patient-centered care and optimize scheduling Identify and communicate signs of oral disease, caries, and other conditions to the dentist Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with clinical standards and technology Required Skills Dental prophylaxis and periodontal therapy Digital radiography (intraoral and panoramic) Periodontal charting and assessment Local anesthesia administration (where permitted) Use of ultrasonic scalers and hand instruments Infection control and sterilization protocols Electronic dental records and charting Patient oral health education and communication Fluoride and sealant application Recognition of oral pathology and periodontal disease
