Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to ensure safe and effective care. Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow and patient comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary advice, and post-treatment care to support long-term dental health. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Skills Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures to communicate effectively with team members and patients. Experience with pediatric dentistry practices, including working with children in a compassionate and engaging manner. Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth procedure flow and patient comfort. Ability to accurately measure vital signs and perform medical imaging safely during routine examinations. Deep understanding of infection control standards, sterilization processes, and aseptic techniques essential for a safe clinical environment. Familiarity with medical coding and documentation review to ensure compliance with insurance requirements and accurate billing.
