Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth to prevent decay and gum disease. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR). Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and adherence to infection prevention protocols. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, treatment plans, and preventive care strategies tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Assist the dental team with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort. Maintain strict infection control standards by following aseptic techniques and healthcare infection prevention guidelines aligned with HIPAA compliance. Manage medical records with accuracy, review documentation for completeness, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Requirements Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably within general or pediatric dentistry environments. Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation, and medical imaging procedures. Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with the dental team. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation review and medical coding. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to infection prevention management standards. Ability to perform dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting with a focus on patient care and comfort.
