Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations for optimal dental health. Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry settings, supporting dentists during examinations and treatments. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) by documenting patient visits, treatment plans, and medical/dental histories in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Ensure infection prevention measures are rigorously followed through aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to safeguard patient and staff health. Manage dental equipment maintenance, sterilization procedures, and inventory to ensure a smooth workflow within the practice. Collaborate with team members using electronic documentation review to optimize patient care and streamline office operations. Skills Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft for scheduling, documentation, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical procedures related to pediatric dentistry and general dentistry. Expertise in chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry to enhance efficiency during procedures. Ability to accurately perform vital signs assessment and utilize medical imaging tools effectively. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance management to maintain patient confidentiality and secure medical records. Excellent communication skills for client education, explaining treatment plans clearly, and fostering positive patient relationships. Knowledge of infection prevention management practices including aseptic techniques and healthcare infection control standards.
