Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental x-rays to develop personalized treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their dental health. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow and patient comfort. Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix with accuracy, ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) while maintaining strict infection prevention protocols and aseptic techniques. Monitor and maintain dental equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and functioning correctly in accordance with infection control standards. Skills Proficiency in dental software platforms including Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding to accurately document patient information. Expertise in pediatric dentistry practices, including pediatric patient care and education tailored for children. Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on patient care, safety, and comfort during various dental procedures. In-depth understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures. Ability to assess vital signs accurately and recognize signs requiring medical attention or referral. Excellent client communication skills to foster trust, explain treatment plans clearly, and ensure positive patient experiences.
