Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth, scaling, and polishing to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist dentists during various procedures through chairside support, including handling dental instruments and managing dental equipment. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with radiation safety standards. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term dental health. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance. Follow infection prevention protocols by practicing aseptic techniques, sterilizing instruments, and managing infection control measures effectively. Qualifications Valid licensure as a Dental Hygienist in accordance with state or regional licensing boards. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings with proficiency in pediatric dentistry procedures preferred. Familiarity with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation and record management. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare infection prevention standards. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and dental equipment operation. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients clearly and compassionately. Experience with four-handed dentistry techniques and chairside assisting is highly desirable.
