Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, performing dental cleanings, and assisting in various dental procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control, and patient assessment to ensure optimal oral health for our patients. Responsibilities Conduct thorough dental cleanings and examinations for patients of all ages, including pediatric patients. Assess patient oral health and provide appropriate recommendations for treatment. Document patient medical history, vital signs, and treatment plans in electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Assist dentists with chairside procedures, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and the importance of regular dental visits. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols to ensure patient safety. Utilize dental software such as Open Dental for scheduling and documentation purposes. Perform medical imaging as needed to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Review documentation for accuracy and completeness to support efficient patient care delivery. Administer local anesthesia under general supervision Requirements Valid Dental Hygienist license in the state of practice. Experience in a dental office or clinic setting is preferred, with familiarity in general dentistry practices. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles is a plus. Must become proficient in using EMR systems and dental software (Open Dental). Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and dental terminology. Ability to perform vital signs assessments and maintain accurate medical records. Familiarity with aseptic techniques and infection control procedures is essential. Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and education. Previous experience in documentation review and medical coding is advantageous but not required.
