Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review, to ensure safe treatment planning. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment, ensuring high-quality images for diagnosis. Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong oral health. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix), documenting treatment details, medical records, and medical coding with precision. Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic technique and infection control measures, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Skills Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures. Experience with pediatric dentistry and providing care tailored to children's needs. Skilled in chairside assisting with dental equipment operation, X-ray processing, and patient care coordination. Ability to assess patient health status through vital signs and medical history review while maintaining HIPAA compliance and confidentiality standards. Expertise in healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on dental care practices while ensuring understanding across diverse age groups including pediatrics.
