Overview Join our dynamic dental team as a Dental Hygienist, where your expertise will play a vital role in delivering exceptional oral healthcare and patient education. In this rewarding position, you will provide comprehensive dental hygiene services, assist with patient assessments, and support the overall efficiency of our dental practice. Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status. Educate patients on proper dental care practices, emphasizing preventive measures and oral hygiene techniques. Assist dentists during procedures such as examinations, restorations, and other dental treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques. Operate and maintain dental equipment, including X-ray machines and digital imaging systems like medical imaging tools. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of patient information and treatment plans while maintaining HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality. Support infection prevention protocols by practicing aseptic techniques, sterilizing instruments, and adhering to healthcare infection prevention standards. Requirements Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations. Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Experience with pediatric dentistry is preferred, along with knowledge of pediatric-specific procedures and patient care considerations. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Skilled in chairside assisting, including patient care, dental assisting techniques, and dental equipment operation. Knowledge of medical coding and documentation review for billing purposes is a plus. Demonstrated commitment to infection control practices and healthcare infection prevention expertise.
