Job Overview:

Join a dedicated team as a Dental Hygiene Authorization Analyst, where you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with federal mandates and state policies related to dental services for Medicaid-eligible members. Under supervision, you will research, review, and analyze dental provider prior authorization requests, contributing to the delivery of quality, appropriate dental care and safeguarding program integrity. This position offers an opportunity to apply your dental hygiene expertise in a meaningful, impactful capacity within a supportive environment.

Qualifications:

Current valid Dental Hygienist license in Oklahoma Dental Hygiene certificate/degree from an accredited dental hygiene college At least five years of clinical experience as a dental hygienist Knowledge of dental hygiene principles, practices, terminology, procedures, and standards of care, including periodontal conditions and treatment Familiarity with dental and medical records, clinical documentation, and evaluation criteria for dental services Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information appropriately Dependable, trustworthy, and able to work independently with limited supervision Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and take ownership of work and decisions

Responsibilities and Duties:

Determine the compensability of dental services requested for Medicaid members by interpreting clinical records and provider statements to ensure eligibility standards are met. Collaborate with the Dental Director and consultants to evaluate members' medical conditions and determine the medical appropriateness of services requested. Review and make approval decisions on periodontal prior authorization requests based on medical necessity; consult with dental professionals when requests do not meet criteria. Adhere to all agency rules and policies while providing services. Consult with the Dental Director and clinical consultants on technical or clinical issues requiring expertise. Create and maintain spreadsheets related to the Dental Unit, identifying system issues and collaborating with staff to resolve them. Represent the agency and assist with Dental Focus Group meetings or other external meetings, including preparing and archiving minutes. Maintain current, valid Dental Hygienist license in Oklahoma.
