Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Monitor patient vital signs during appointments and recognize signs of medical emergencies or complications. Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Support general dentistry procedures with chairside assisting, ensuring smooth workflow throughout each appointment. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification in CPR/BLS. Proven experience working in a dental office or clinic setting with familiarity in dental assisting procedures. Proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control standards. Experience using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding practices. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles is a plus for working with pediatric patients effectively. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with diverse populations.
