Duties Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth, removing plaque, tartar, and stains using ultrasonic scalers and hand instruments. Conduct thorough patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status. Capture high-quality dental x-rays (radiographs) while adhering to safety protocols and proper aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health. Operate and maintain dental equipment such as ultrasonic scalers, X-ray machines, and digital imaging systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix EMR/EHR platforms. Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and managing medical records accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems. Follow infection prevention management protocols, including sterilization procedures and infection control standards to safeguard patient and staff safety. Review documentation for accuracy, update medical records regularly, and assist with medical coding when necessary for billing purposes. Communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, providing compassionate care tailored to individual needs. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental cleanings and radiography. Proven experience in dental office environments with familiarity in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and dental equipment operation. Demonstrated expertise in infection prevention practices, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about dental care and hygiene practices. Ability to perform detailed patient assessments including vital signs measurement and medical history review. Experience working with pediatric patients is preferred but not required; a compassionate approach is essential.
