Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment, ensuring accuracy and patient safety. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories and current oral health status to inform treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term dental health. Manage dental instruments and ensure a sterile environment following infection prevention protocols. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) by documenting treatment details, medical records, and dental coding in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage infection control procedures by adhering to aseptic techniques and sterilization standards to ensure patient safety and prevent cross-contamination. Skills Proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures to communicate effectively with team members and patients. Skilled in dental x-ray techniques, including taking intraoral and extraoral images while maintaining patient comfort. Excellent client communication skills to explain procedures clearly and address patient concerns confidently. Ability to perform patient care tasks such as medical assessments and understanding of medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices aligned with HIPAA compliance management to ensure a safe clinical environment.
