Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring accuracy and patient safety. Assess patient health by recording vital signs, medical history, and current dental concerns. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using our online platform, Carestack, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality. Support infection prevention protocols by sterilizing equipment, managing aseptic techniques, and adhering to infection control standards. Collaborate with dentist and other team members to deliver seamless patient care in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings. Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, providing compassionate care tailored to pediatric and adult patients alike. Review medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with healthcare regulations. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials. Proven experience in dental office environments, preferably within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry practices. Proficiency in dental software systems. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health. Skilled in dental equipment operation, X-ray techniques, and infection prevention management. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about dental care. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Ability to perform clinical tasks efficiently while demonstrating attention to detail and professionalism. Knowledge of medical coding procedures related to dental services is a plus.
