Responsibilities Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup effectively. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Assess patient health by measuring vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration; review medical history for relevant health considerations. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term oral health. Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow and patient comfort. Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EMR), documenting treatment details, medical records, and patient assessments in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Ensure infection prevention management by adhering to strict aseptic techniques, sterilizing dental equipment, and following healthcare infection control protocols. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic environment. Proficiency with dental software system, Softdent, for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices is highly desirable for working with young patients. Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance management and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while ensuring patient safety through proper technique.
