Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Dental Sterilization Technician to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a sterile environment, ensuring all dental instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and prepared for patient procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of infection control protocols, dental terminology, and medical documentation standards. The Dental Sterilization Technician will support the clinical team by managing sterilization processes efficiently while adhering to all safety and health regulations. A Tennessee Dental Assistant and Radiology Certification is preferred but not required. Duties Properly clean, disinfect, and sterilize dental instruments using autoclaves and other sterilization equipment in accordance with infection control protocols. Prepare and organize sterilized instruments for use during dental procedures, ensuring all items are correctly labeled and stored. Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the sterilization area to comply with OSHA standards. Monitor sterilization cycles, document procedures accurately within electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations when handling patient information and medical records. Support the clinical team by providing sterile instruments during procedures, including chairside assisting if necessary. Maintain inventory of sterilization supplies and notify management when stock levels are low. Follow aseptic techniques and infection control guidelines diligently to prevent cross-contamination. Assist with other clinical duties as needed, including taking vital signs or supporting pediatric dentistry procedures. Requirements Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting or similar healthcare environment is preferred. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is highly desirable. Understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Experience with X-ray procedures, chairside assisting, or medical imaging is a plus. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills and ability to follow strict protocols for infection control and safety standards. Certification in dental assisting or related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
