Job Description
COMPANY INTRO
Artisan Lab USA is a full-service digital dental laboratory in Chantilly, Virginia, serving roughly 150 clinician clients across the DMV. We run a fully digital workflow — intraoral scan, photogrammetry, CAD design, milling and printing, through final ceramics — across crown and bridge, esthetic anterior cases, implant restorations, full-arch (All-on-X), and removable. We're looking for a well-rounded dental technician who owns the final esthetics and quality of our work: ceramics, finishing, characterization, stain and glaze, and case QC across the full range of what we produce. This is the seat where a case either becomes something we're proud to put our name on, or doesn't. If you take pride in surface texture, shade accuracy, morphology, and soft-tissue esthetics — and you want your work seen rather than buried in a box — read on.WHAT YOU'LL DO
Ceramics & esthetics (the core of the role) Stain, glaze, and characterization across zirconia, lithium disilicate (e.max), PFM, and layered ceramics MIYO Liquid Ceramic staining, characterization, and glazing Esthetic anterior crown and bridge: cutback, micro-layering, internal characterization, texture and morphology, high-value/high-translucency cases Veneers, single-unit anteriors, and full smile-design cases where the shade has to be right the first time Pink porcelain / gingival ceramic build-up for implant and full-arch prostheses Shade matching from photos, shade tabs, and clinician notes; calling the doctor when the shade info isn't good enough Furnace operation and firing schedule management (sintering, glaze, crystallization) Full-arch implant work Finishing and contouring monolithic and layered zirconia full-arch bridges, hybrids, and titanium-bar prostheses Ti-base bonding, seating, polishing, and final assembly Support at try-in, verification jig, and prototype stages Removable & denture Denture tooth setup, characterization, finishing and polishing Monolithic / Ivotion denture workflows and implant overdentures Gingival characterization and natural tissue esthetics on removable cases Quality control Final QC before delivery: fit, margins, contacts, occlusion, contours, intaglio, screw access, shade, and surface finish Catching upstream issues — design, nesting, milling, or scan problems — before they turn into remakes Case photography and documentation for QC records and clinician communication Content & education (see below — this matters to us) Participate in educational and case-showcase content: case photos, before/after documentation, short videos, technique walkthroughs, and social/marketing material featuring your workABOUT THE CONTENT PIECE
—PLEASE READ
We are investing heavily in education-led marketing. That means documenting real cases, teaching technique, and showing our esthetic work publicly — to clinicians, to students, and to the industry. Part of this role is being willing to be part of that: on camera, on video, walking through a case, explaining why you did what you did. We'll handle the production, scripting support, and editing. You don't need to be a performer or have any content experience. You do need to be comfortable being seen and heard talking about your own work — and ideally, to be excited about it. If the idea of your work being in front of thousands of clinicians appeals to you, this is a rare seat. If being on camera is a hard no for you, this specific role probably isn't the right fit, and that's fine — tell us up front.WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required Hands-on experience finishing and characterizing dental ceramics in a production lab Strong stain and glaze skills on zirconia and lithium disilicate A real eye for shade, contour, texture, and esthetics — you can tell the difference between "acceptable" and "right," and you care about the difference Ability to self-check against a case checklist and catch your own errors before someone else does Clear, direct communication in English — when something is unclear or a case has a problem, you raise it early, not at delivery Reliability and follow-through on deadlines Willingness to appear in educational and marketing content (see above) Strongly preferred Esthetic anterior crown and bridge experience — this is a growth area for us Full-arch implant experience: All-on-X, All-on-4, hybrids, screw-retained and cement-retained, multi-unit abutments Pink porcelain / gingival ceramic build-up Denture and removable experience MIYO Liquid Ceramic experience (or willingness to be trained — we'll train the right person) CDT (Certified Dental Technician) or working toward certification Familiarity with exocad or 3Shape, CAD/CAM milling, 3D printing, and digital workflows Experience with GC Initial, VITA, IPS e.max Ceram, Creation, or comparable ceramic systems Nice to have Photogrammetry / verification jig workflow familiarity Dental photography skills Experience training or mentoring junior technicians Any prior teaching, lecturing, or content/social experience in dental Interest in growing into a lead or department head role and building a team under youTHIS IS MORE THAN A LAB BENCH
—WHAT'S ACTUALLY BEHIND THIS ROLE
Most dental labs can offer you a bench and a paycheck. Here's what we can offer that most can't: We're a distributor, not just a lab. We're an authorized dealer and partner across scanners, mills, printers, zirconia, resins, and consumables — Shining3D, Neobiotech, ZimVie, Aidite, Xtcera, Pacdent, DentaFab, Harvest Dental, VITA and more. That changes what a technician's career can look like here. Real teaching and speaking opportunities. Because we distribute and support this equipment, we run lectures, seminars, hands-on courses, and industry events. If you want to teach — technique, materials, esthetics, workflows — there is an actual stage here, not a vague promise of one. Most technicians never get that chance in a full career. You'll see what's coming before the market does. We're deeply connected across the industry and work directly with manufacturers. New materials, new equipment, new workflows land on our bench early. You'll be learning and evaluating technology while other labs are still reading about it. We're building toward 100+ people. We're 15 today. The plan is aggressive growth — lab services, equipment, consumables, education, and content. That growth needs technicians who become leads, leads who become department heads, and department heads who build their own teams. If you join now and you're good, you will not be at the same seat in three years unless you want to be.TWO KINDS OF PEOPLE WE'RE OPEN TO
The craftsman. You want to do excellent work at the bench, be left alone to do it well, and be paid fairly for it. We need people like you and we'll respect that. The champion. You want more than a bench. You want to build a reputation, teach and lecture, be known for your esthetics, help shape how this lab grows, and eventually build and lead your own team. If that's you, say so in your application — we have room for it and we're not going to make you wait years for permission. We'd rather hear honestly which one you are than have you guess what we want to read.WHY ARTISAN LAB USA
13+ years established, ~15 employees, ~150 clinician clients — stable, but growing fast toward 100+ Fully digital lab: modern scanners, milling, printing, and furnace equipment, with ongoing investment in new technology and complete workflows Authorized dealer and industry partner across major equipment, materials, and consumables lines — you get hands-on with new technology before most labs do Lecture, seminar, and event opportunities through our education and distribution arms Expanding crown & bridge, esthetic, and denture volume, plus a growing education and content operation Direct access to ownership — decisions get made fast, and good technicians aren't buried under bureaucracy Clear path upward: we need leads and department heads, and we're promoting from inside Your work gets shown, credited, and seen, not shipped anonymouslyHOW TO APPLY
Apply through Indeed with your resume. If you have case photos — anterior esthetics, stain and glaze, layering, full-arch, denture work — attach them or include a link. Photos of your work will move you to the top of the list faster than a resume will. In your message, tell us two things: which type of work you're strongest at, and whether you're the craftsman or the champion described above. Qualified applicants will be invited to a paid working interview so we can both see how it goes at the bench.KEYWORD BLOCK
