Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Oral Surgery Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. Responsibilities Assist the oral surgeon during various surgical procedures, including extractions, biopsies, and implant placements, by preparing and passing dental instruments and materials with precision. Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical histories, taking vital signs, and ensuring comfort throughout their visit. Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners to obtain accurate diagnostic images while adhering to HIPAA and infection prevention policies. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies by properly handling medical records, documentation, and digital records using patient management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized dental instruments and equipment following strict infection control protocols, including dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques. Support dental procedures with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and specialized fields such as prosthodontics or endodontics when needed. Ensure all dental equipment is functioning correctly and assist with dental instrument processing to uphold high standards of infection prevention management. Skills Proficiency in EMR systems for accurate documentation and patient management. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient privacy and data security. Experience with dental radiography including X-ray techniques and dental x-ray safety protocols. Knowledge of dental sterilization procedures, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe clinical environment. Skilled in chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency during complex oral surgeries. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical imaging, vital signs monitoring, and general dentistry procedures. Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist or front desk staff to coordinate patient care seamlessly.
