Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Oral Surgery Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will support oral surgeons during surgical procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience. Your expertise in dental assisting, infection control, and patient management will contribute to delivering exceptional care in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Assist oral surgeons during procedures by handling dental instruments, managing suction devices, and ensuring patient comfort through chairside assisting. Take dental X-rays, including intraoral and extraoral images, utilizing medical imaging technology such as 3D scanners when necessary. Manage patient records accurately using patient management software and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Monitor vital signs and assess patient readiness before procedures, providing support for pediatric dentistry cases when applicable. Maintain dental sterilization procedures and ensure all dental equipment is properly cleaned, disinfected, and maintained according to infection control standards. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting, preferably with exposure to oral surgery or general dentistry environments. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to oral surgery procedures. Familiarity with dental x-ray techniques, medical imaging tools like 3D scanners, and dental instrument processing protocols. Hands-on experience with chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry practices. Understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control policies including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures. Ability to effectively communicate with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, ensuring a compassionate approach to patient care.
