Job Description

Clinical Care Within the scope of licensure, provides dental care for patients of the clinic: Acts as Dental Care Provider for patients Meets productivity and clinical measures of the clinic Adheres to appropriate, best practices as accepted by Health West Diagnoses and treats acute and chronic dental problems Provides chronic disease management Provides preventive dental care and dental education Provides referral assistance to specialty dental services Understands and follows infection control procedures Accurately charts treatment to be completed and/or completed treatment Makes accurate chart notes in the dental health record including the next visit and time needed Coding and Charting Documents patient visits (same day) meeting current coding standards Signs off lab work, chart documentation, phone calls, patient cases, refills, hospital visits (if applicable), and other paperwork as required using timetables and guidelines as outlined in Procedure CL-048: Chart Completion Procedure Selects appropriate CPT and diagnosis codes and assures these codes are supported by proper documentation. Participates in appropriate coding and documentation education as needed or as directed by Health West Participates in chart audits as directed Assures charts, including procedures, are documented and signed off within three business days. Supervision and Consultation Provides clinical supervision for Dental Assistants and other health professionals requiring formal dental oversight under Idaho State law. Provides clinical consultation for HW medical and other dental providers as requested.
Typical dental skills could include:
Restorative:
Including fillings, crown and bridge, pre-molar and anterior root canals
Urgent/Emergent:
Including x-rays, extractions
Preventative:
Including x-rays, cleanings, non-surgical periodontal therapy, sealants, and fluoride varnish
Surgical:
Extractions, oral biopsies EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited dental school and licensure by the State of Idaho to practice dentistry. Current certification in BLS which can be taken upon hire.
