Responsibilities Diagnose and treat periodontal diseases such as gingivitis, periodontitis, and other gum-related conditions using evidence-based practices. Perform periodontal procedures including scaling and root planing, gum surgeries, dental implants, and tissue grafts with precision and care. Collaborate with general dentists and specialists to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs. Utilize advanced dental technology and imaging tools to assess oral health status accurately. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, disease prevention strategies, and post-treatment care to promote long-term oral health. Maintain detailed and accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and state healthcare standards. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed to uphold the highest standards of aseptic technique during all procedures. Requirements Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited institution. Valid NY state dental license with specialization certification in periodontics. Proven experience in performing periodontal treatments, including dental implants and oral surgery procedures. Proficiency with dental practice management software such as CareStack, Epic, Eaglesoft, or Dentrix. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and healthcare diagnosis processes. Familiarity with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency during patient care. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, team members, and other healthcare professionals. Commitment to adhering to infection control standards and maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA regulations. Additional skills in pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics, or oral surgery are a plus but not required.
